Wrekin Water Team Building with Mills Gardening Services
Tom and Matt run Mills Gardening Services - Who also happen to be are our sub contractors when we need an extra hand. Tom used to be apart of the Wrekin Water Team, but moved on to pastures new a couple of years back - He is also Emma's Brother.
Every year, Tom and Matt host 'Pick your own pumpkins' Based in North Shropshire. The last couple of years they have been based in Burlton. However after purchasing their own bigger field they have now moved it to Northwood - Ready for October 2019.
On Saturday 15th June. Emma, Harrie and Craig (from the Wrekin Team) Mark, Nathan and Hugh lent a hand to help Tom and Matt plant 3500 pumpkin plants. This included removing the plants from their pots, that have been grown from seed in Tom and Matts poly tunnels, and lying them carefully in trays ready for Tom to plant whilst perched on the back of a hand made plough at the back of the tractor (this was perfectly safe).
The weather was cold and after several heavy rain showers we finally got all the plants in their rows - BUT the hard work did not stop there! We then had to walk each line making sure the plants were standing vertical and had to bury the roots by hand. After several hours we managed to get the majority of the work done - its not all over yet though! Tom and Matt still have roughly 2000 pumpkins to plant.
I will be adding further albums of the process and also an album in October showing the end result ready for Halloween.

They have planted some unusual and unique brands of pumpkins as well as traditional and gigantic pumpkins. They are building a witches village and will offer night/lantern tours, It really will be a spooktacular event. You will not be disappointed!! I will be taking my daughter back to pick hers when the open.
